About Me

Who I Am

About Me

I'm Jayveian Bailey, often called Blurry, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, but grew up in Omaha and later Lenexa, Kansas. My interest in barbering sparked when my childhood barber couldn't provide the modern styles I wanted, pushing me to pick up clippers myself.

Fun Facts

Beyond barbering, I'm deeply engaged in personal fitness, nature exploration, reading, and listening to a diverse range of music. I also enjoy culinary delights, often indulging more than the average person.

Years of Experience

I have been barbering professionally for 2 years, refining my skills and building a dedicated clientele since high school.

Training & Education

I completed my formal training at Headlines Barber Academy, where I received my barber's license. This education solidified my foundation in providing top-notch haircuts tailored to client desires.

More Info

My chair is open at Officially Chopped Barber Shop from Tuesday to Saturday, with flexible hours to accommodate various schedules. I also offer after-hours services on Sunday and Monday for an additional fee. Appointments can be booked through my website or via Instagram.

Why Barbering?

Barbering chose me unexpectedly. Initially a hobby, it became my calling during the COVID-19 pandemic when remote learning showed me I thrived in interactive, people-oriented environments. This realization steered me away from a planned career in athletic training to full-time barbering.

Work & INspiration

The part of barbering I love most is the growth I witness in my clients. From young boys growing into men to adults thriving in various aspects of life, it's rewarding to see the impact of my work on their confidence and self-image. My biggest inspiration is Fred, a fellow barber whose dedication to craft and community drives his vision for change. His approach, blending professionalism with personal touch, inspires me daily.

Have Some Questions?

FAQs

How would you describe your barbering style? (E.g., traditional, modern, creative, etc.)

I describe my style as "Blurry" — a blend of natural, clean cuts that enhance each client's best features, always aiming for precision and style.

Do you have any specialties or favorite types of cuts/styles (e.g., fades, classic cuts, beard grooming)?

My specialties include high tapers and drop fades. I love styling a flow with a taper, a comb over with a fade, or a curly top with a high taper.

Do you offer any signature services or techniques that set you apart?

While I continue to develop unique services, my current signature is the "Blurry Effect" — it's not just a cut, it's an experience. You have to sit in my chair to truly understand and feel the difference.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to barbering and client service?

My philosophy is to treat every client as if I were the one in the chair. I take pride in my work, ensuring each cut not only looks great but also boosts confidence and reflects the client’s truest self.
